PBJ Studio Sync

Push your WordPress Studio site to production with one click — and only what’s changed. A developer deployment tool that performs a one-way push of a local WordPress Studio (SQLite) site to a live WordPress (MySQL) site over the REST API, so the SQLite↔MySQL differences are handled for you. If you don’t build locally in WordPress Studio, this plugin isn’t for you.

Stop wrestling with deployments

You build in WordPress Studio because it’s fast, local, and disposable. Then comes the part nobody likes: getting your work to the live site — database exports, search-and-replace, SQL dumps that refuse to import because Studio runs SQLite and your host runs MySQL, media dragged through FTP, deletions that never make it across. Studio Sync handles all of it through a single click in your WP admin. Install the same plugin on both sides; it auto-detects which environment it’s running in.

What it does

  • One-way push, Studio → Live. Posts, pages, custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies, media, theme files and plugins move as native WP objects over the REST API — no raw SQL transfer, no broken serialized data.
  • Incremental by default. A watermark tracks your last successful push; the next sync only sends what changed. A 5000-file site you tweaked one page on takes seconds.
  • Deletion sync via tombstones. Trash a post or delete a media file on Studio and the next push removes the same items on live by slug. Untrashing removes the tombstone so nothing is deleted in error.
  • Compare & Sync. A side-by-side dashboard counts every section on Studio vs. Live and flags what differs. Tick what you want, pick a direction, and run.
  • Live backups to ZIP. Generate a backup of production from the admin — MySQL dump, per-table JSON snapshot, and the uploads folder — and import it back into Studio across the SQLite boundary.
  • Chunked, resumable pushes with a live progress bar, per-item errors, and a clean Cancel. Close the tab mid-push and reopening picks up where it left off.

Full-site clone — with guardrails

Opt in and the push also carries your settings (the whole wp_options table, including theme_mods) and your users (roles, profile meta, password hashes). A built-in safety layer always protects the things that would break a live site — its site/home URL, its active-plugins list, the theme selection, and the login of whoever is running the sync — so a full clone can never lock you out of production or point it back at localhost. Prune (off by default, behind a confirmation) removes leftovers so the two sites become an exact match.

Authentication & updates

Standard WordPress Application Passwords — generate one on your live site, paste it into Studio. No custom auth scheme, no API keys to manage. Point the plugin at a GitHub release or your own JSON manifest and future versions appear under Plugins → Installed Plugins with the normal Update Now button.
