PBJ CRM 1.9.0: imports can now update people you already have
PBJ CRM 1.9.0 is out. Importing from Square, Google Contacts or Microsoft Outlook can now bring people you already have in the CRM up to date, instead of only filling in blanks.
One tick box on each import card
Each of the three import cards now carries Bring people who are already here up to date too. Leave it off, which is still the recommendation, and an import behaves exactly as it always has: it fills in blanks and never contradicts anything your team has typed. Tick it and the other service wins where the two disagree, so the name, email, phone, company and address on records you imported months ago catch up in one run.
Why a re-import used to look like it did nothing
Run the same customer list twice and the second run reports something like “91 skipped, 0 updated”. That was never a fault. Somebody already in the CRM who needs no changes is counted as skipped rather than updated, and because an ordinary import only fills in blanks, anybody whose details were already filled in needed no changes. If what you actually wanted was a refresh from the source, that is precisely what the new tick box is for.
Nothing changes unless you ask for it
The box is off by default, so existing imports behave identically until you tick it. A blank at the other end never wipes something you already have, whichever way the box is set, and marketing status is still never touched by an import.
Upgrading
There are no database changes, so the update is a straight swap. Sites with a licence key will be offered 1.9.0 through the usual WordPress updates screen.
