PBJ CRM 7.46 — the suite’s own calendar, on every screen

PBJ CRM 7.46 is out, and it is a free update for everyone who owns PBJ CRM 7.x. If you are updating from 7.42 — the version we last sent out — this single step brings you four releases: 7.43, 7.44, 7.45 and 7.46. There is no database change in any of them: the CRM database stays at version 29, and your data is untouched.

The pop-up calendar is ours now, not the browser’s

Every date box in the suite — a task’s due date, the new-event composer, a report’s From and To, a staff member’s “back on” date, an invoice’s dates, a dispatch booking — used to open the calendar your browser draws. That little window is not part of the page, so nothing we could write would paint it: whichever theme you had chosen for your portal, the calendar that popped up ignored it completely.

It is now our calendar. The day you pick is your theme’s accent colour, Clear and Today are your theme’s link colour, and the panel uses your theme’s surface, border, corner radius, shadow and typeface. It follows every preset the suite ships, light and dark, because every colour in it comes from the theme rather than from the browser.

The box itself is still an ordinary date field: you can still type into it on a desktop, the stored value has not changed shape, and required dates, earliest and latest dates and every save still behave exactly as before. Escape closes the calendar and puts you back in the field, and it flips above the box when there is no room below.

On a phone or a tablet, it is the only calendar

7.45 drew the new calendar, but on a touch screen your device still insisted on showing its own on top — the iOS date sheet that slides up from the bottom, or the Android “Set date and time” wheel. That is what 7.46 fixes. On a phone or a tablet the date field now hands the whole job to the suite: your device offers no date sheet and no wheel, and the themed calendar is the only thing you see.

Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate. On a touch screen, pressing anywhere in the date box opens the calendar — not just the small icon at the right-hand end, which was always a mouse-sized target. And every control inside the panel — the days, the month arrows, Clear and Today — now responds properly to a finger. On a desktop nothing changes: you keep the icon, and you keep being able to type a date without a calendar interrupting you.

A clearer head on invoices and estimates

7.43 and 7.44 rebuilt the top of the estimate and invoice editors. The document’s title is now the heading itself — you type it in place, at heading size, rather than hunting for a field below — and the running total sits at the top right where you can watch it while you work. The header stays pinned as you scroll down a long list of lines.

The chosen customer is now a single card showing the bill-to line as one tidy line, with Change customer and Edit bill to beside it, so the address boxes stay folded away until you actually want them. Anything that was filled in for you from the customer’s record is marked, so you can see at a glance what came from the CRM and what you typed. Line rows are more compact, with the extra text boxes tucked behind a + until you need them and the row’s own actions under one menu.

These arrive in the CRM as shared building blocks, so the same head and the same line rows turn up in PBJ Invoicing. A screen that has not asked for the new layout is completely unaffected by it.

What has not changed

• No database change. The CRM database stays at version 29 across all four releases.
• No permission change. Nobody on your team gains or loses anything.
• No module is required to update for the calendar work — it is entirely inside the CRM, and every module’s date fields get it for free.
• Dates are stored exactly as before, so nothing already in your CRM needs converting.

Upgrading

Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in WordPress and update PBJ CRM to 7.46 as you would any other plugin. It is a free update within PBJ CRM 7 — PBJ plugins are a one-time purchase per major version, and every 7.x update reaches existing owners at no charge. If your site does not offer the update straight away, open Dashboard → Updates and check again.
