PBJ CRM 1.16.0 and Helpdesk 2.8.0 — Today, a calendar you can act on, and the CRM on your phone
PBJ CRM 1.16.0 and PBJ Helpdesk 2.8.0 are out. This release is about the two questions you actually open the CRM to answer — what is on me today? and what is coming? — and about being able to ask them from your phone.
Today: one list, tasks and tickets together
There is a new Today screen, first under Tasks & Tickets. It shows everything with your name on it — your CRM tasks and your help desk tickets — in one list, sorted by when they are due, with anything late in red at the top. A task can now say which ticket it is the follow-up for, and when both would appear they show as one line rather than two for the same piece of work. Nothing was replaced: the full Tasks and Tickets lists are still their own screens.
The calendar does more than report
Tap today, or any day still to come, and you can start something on it — write a task for that Thursday without leaving the screen. Days that have been and gone do not offer it. There is also a new List view: one day after another instead of a grid, far easier to read on a phone. Both views are always available and it remembers which you prefer.
One fix worth naming: calendar times now read on your business’s clock rather than the clock of whichever computer you are sitting at. Before this, an item could sit under Wednesday and show a Tuesday-evening time.
Put the CRM on your phone
Switch it on under Settings → Theming, give it a name and upload a square logo, and anybody on your team can add the CRM to their home screen. It opens full screen with your name and your icon on it instead of looking like a web page. There is no app store and nothing to install. It deliberately does not work offline: the CRM asks the website who you are on every visit, so there is nothing safe to keep on the phone.
Updating
Both updates arrive through your WordPress updates screen as usual, free to existing owners of the current major version. Update PBJ CRM first — the CRM is the hub, and Today only shows tickets once both are current.
