PBJ Dispatch 1.1.0 — reminders, confirmations and calendar invitations

PBJ Dispatch & Appointments 1.1.0 is out, together with PBJ Help Desk 2.10.0. The two are released as a pair because one of the new features needs both.

1.0.0 could book a job and tell everybody when it was. 1.1.0 is about everything that happens after the booking — telling people, reminding them, and putting the job in their diary.

Everybody gets told, and then reminded

Booking a job, moving it, or cancelling it now emails both the customer and whoever is going. You choose how far ahead the reminders go out — 24 hours and 2 hours to begin with, and the list is yours to change.

The customer is always given your business number. An agent’s own line is never sent, which matters the day that agent leaves.

Calendar invitations that move instead of piling up

Every confirmation carries a calendar invitation. Move the job and the entry already sitting in somebody’s diary moves with it — it does not leave the old one behind and add a second. That works the same way on Apple, Google and Outlook.

Getting there

Every job now carries Google Maps and Apple Maps links side by side. There is no account to set up, no API key, and no address ever leaves your site — the links are ordinary web addresses built from what you already typed.

Our locations keeps the places you ask people to come to, so an appointment can be filled in from a list instead of retyped. And if a customer’s address changes, you can now pull the new one onto an existing job deliberately — the timeline records that you did it. Correcting a customer’s record still never silently moves a job that is already booked.

A ticket can become a visit

This is the half that needed both plugins. When a help desk ticket turns out to need somebody on site, it can be turned into a booked visit: the visit carries the job, the ticket closes, and the customer gets exactly one email — the booking, not a booking plus a closure notice in the same minute.

That is what Help Desk 2.10.0 adds: a documented way for another plugin to hold back one closure email, for one close, once. With nothing listening it behaves exactly as it always has. Only the email is affected — the stage change, the closed stamp, the timeline note and everything else still happen as normal.

On the calendar

Visits now appear on the CRM calendar, once each, on your clock rather than in UTC — and any day you tap offers New visit and New appointment alongside New task.

Upgrading

Dispatch 1.1.0 requires PBJ CRM 1.14.0 or newer, and the ticket-to-visit feature requires PBJ Help Desk 2.10.0. There are no database changes in either release — nothing you have already booked is altered, and updating is the ordinary one-click update from your Plugins screen.
