PBJ Site Essentials Changelog (v1.2.0): Four MU-Plugins, One Package
PBJ Site Essentials is the site plugin that carries everything specific to PBJ.Tech itself — the pieces too site-specific for our shared plugins. It consolidates what used to be four separate must-use plugins into one deployable package.
Update: as of PBJ SEO 2.0.0, this entire plugin has been merged into PBJ SEO and the standalone version is retired. Version 1.2.0 below is its final standalone release; everything it did now ships inside PBJ SEO.
Version 1.2.0 (current)
What the plugin handles today:
2026shortcode — always-current copyright year in the footer.- Legacy and duplicate-slug 301 redirects — old URLs and “-2” duplicate slugs redirect permanently to their canonical pages.
- Geo meta tags — location metadata for local search.
- Service, FAQPage, and LocalBusiness schema — structured data appended to the PBJ SEO graph via its
pbj_seo_schema_graphextension point. - Meta URL absolutizing and performance tweaks.
- Security headers and the PBJ SEO force-HTTPS opt-in — replacing what Really Simple Security’s headers and HTTPS redirect used to do.
History
This plugin consolidates the former pbj-geo-meta, pbj-legacy-redirects, pbj-schema-extras, and pbj-perf-tweaks must-use plugins, so everything deploys through the normal plugin sync. A handover guard means each merged section stands down while its old mu-plugin file still exists — a site with both never double-emits tags or fatals; delete the mu file and the section here takes over on the next request.
