PBJ Studio Sync 3.6.0 is out. One change, and it is the one every long push has been asking for: the push now drives itself.
The push no longer needs your browser
Until now, the moving of files and settings from your Studio site to your live site was steered by the admin page in your browser — background the tab and the push paused; close it and the push sat waiting. That made a browser tab a load-bearing part of a server-to-server transfer, which was never where the responsibility belonged.
From 3.6.0, clicking any Push button hands the whole run to the server itself, using the same fire-and-forget technique WordPress uses for its own scheduled jobs. Walk away, close the laptop lid, lose your connection — the push finishes on its own, and the admin page simply shows you the progress when you come back.
The old behavior is the safety net
A few hosts refuse to let a site talk to itself. On those, nothing breaks: the open admin page notices within seconds and quietly goes back to driving the push exactly as every earlier version did. There is no setting and nothing to configure — the fallback is automatic.
Upgrading
Only your Studio (local) site needs 3.6.0 — the live site is untouched by this change. Install it on Studio via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → Replace current with uploaded. Licensed sites see the update on their next check.
