PBJ Suite Update: Late-Fee Fix, an Idle-Logout Fix, and Businesses Back in the List
Five PBJ plugins updated today: PBJ CRM 1.18.0, PBJ Helpdesk 2.9.0, PBJ Invoicing 1.14.0, PBJ Archive 1.3.0 and PBJ SEO & Security 4.4.0. No database changes anywhere in this release. Two of them are worth reading properly rather than just clicking update.
If you charge percentage late fees, check your invoices
PBJ Invoicing could apply the same late fee more than once, and once it started it repeated every night. It happened when the record of a charge failed to save while the charge itself went through, leaving the next run unable to tell the fee had already been applied. That is fixed — charges are recorded first and checked before any money is added. It is worth looking over your overdue and recently paid invoices and crediting back anything charged twice.
Two smaller money fixes ride along: an invoice paid while the nightly run was working through the list could still be charged, which reopened a settled invoice and emailed the customer about it; and percentage fees are now applied at the same precision they are saved at, so a 1.2345% fee on $10,000 charges $123.45 rather than $123.50 — the figure the settings screen always showed.
If you ever switched on the idle session timeout
PBJ SEO & Security 4.4.0 fixes a bug that could log you out the instant you signed in, every time, with no way through. It also adds an always-allow list that bypasses every security gate — settable in wp-config.php, which you can still edit while locked out — and a lockout recovery email that only ever goes to the administrator address already on file.
Businesses are visible to your staff again
The previous CRM release protected a business’s private notes, phone number and address by hiding the whole business from staff whose contact list did not already include it. Because an imported business belongs to nobody until somebody claims it, that emptied the company list for every employee and manager on a normal site. 1.18.0 gives everyone the businesses back and keeps the protection: staff who are not allowed to see a business now see its name only.
Help desk: a safety release for the database
On a site where an earlier update had only partly applied, the help desk could refuse to save new tickets or quietly stop storing incoming email. Those paths now step around a missing piece instead of failing, the site repairs itself when the database catches up, and the plugin no longer records a database change as done unless it can see it happened. It also now checks that PBJ CRM is new enough, not merely installed — on an older CRM it shows one notice instead of taking the site down. PBJ Archive 1.3.0 and PBJ Invoicing 1.14.0 carry the same version check; Archive has no change to encryption, the vault, or who can see what.
Updates appear in your WordPress dashboard as usual for anyone with a current licence key.
