PBJ CRM 7.69 and eight updates — Projects, one client portal, and a security review

PBJ CRM 7.69 is out, with eight module updates alongside it: PBJ Helpdesk 7.33, PBJ Invoicing 7.38, PBJ Events (Dispatch & Appointments) 7.15, PBJ Omada 7.16, PBJ RingCentral 7.21, PBJ Templates 1.13.7, PBJ Forms & Products 2.3.0 and PBJ Vault 7.06. All are free updates within their major version. PBJ CRM and PBJ Invoicing update their databases on first load, so take a backup before you update.

PBJ CRM 7.69 (with 7.67 and 7.68)

• Projects. A project groups the tasks you already have, with milestones and client access. The Tasks list gains a Project filter, and New task an optional Project field.
• Portfolio for clients. A new Portfolio tab in the client portal lists a client’s shared projects and opens each project’s page. Show as client reaches it through a signed preview link.
• One client portal. Every module now draws its part of the portal inside the CRM’s one client shell, under its own section tab. A client sees their own records and those of every business they are linked to.
• Email and text without leaving the CRM. Clicking an email address opens a New email dialog instead of your mail app; a phone number offers Call or Send a text. Every inbox has New email and New text, and both carry attachments. A text carries a short link to each file.
• Photos and videos open in one full-screen viewer. Videos get a poster frame where the server can make one, and iPhone HEIC photos are shown as JPEGs where WordPress can convert them.
• Security review. Assistant (MCP) link tokens are stored hashed and expire. Adding a passkey needs a fresh sign-in. One-time sign-in links are spent exactly once. Public file and text links expire after 30 days by default, and older links still open. An optional setting stops administrators signing in with an emailed link.
• Faster pages: fewer database checks on every request, and each module serves its minified script.

The modules

• PBJ Helpdesk 7.33 (and 7.32): tickets live in the one client portal, including tickets filed on a client’s business. My Tickets opens on All, so a customer’s history is no longer hidden. Staff-only controls stay out of client views. The inbox counts load faster.
• PBJ Invoicing 7.38 (and 7.37): open invoices show in the client portal with a Pay link, followed by paid ones. A recurring invoice is now issued exactly once per period, even if two scheduled runs overlap. Only a manager can delete a saved line description.
• PBJ Events 7.15 (and 7.14): upcoming and past jobs show in the client portal with their reference, time window and address. Crew, notes and mileage are never shown.
• PBJ Omada 7.16 (and 7.14, 7.15): each controller chooses who gets its automatic tickets, a person or a Help Desk group. Clients see their devices’ online status in the portal, without MAC or IP addresses. A failing controller is retried less often until it answers again.
• PBJ RingCentral 7.21: overlapping background runs no longer process the same messages twice, and a healthy connection is swept less often.
• PBJ Templates 1.13.7: loads its minified script. No other change.
• PBJ Forms & Products 2.3.0 (and 2.2.0): deleting the plugin keeps your forms, orders and settings unless you tick the option to remove them. Square, Stripe and PayPal secrets are stored encrypted when PBJ CRM’s encryption is available. PayPal checks the amount before capturing. A gateway timeout holds the order as Payment uncertain instead of treating it as a decline. The Spam action now also blocks the sender’s email address, and likely spam is held for review.
• PBJ Vault 7.06 (and 7.05): unlock the Vault with a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key that supports it). The unlocked key is now split between the server and your browser, so a backup taken while the Vault is open cannot decrypt anything. After updating, unlock once more.

Upgrading
