PBJ CRM 8.37 suite update — a faster portal, one mailer for every module, and a database status check

Today’s update to the PBJ CRM suite is out for every licensed site: PBJ CRM 8.37, PBJ Helpdesk 7.41.14, PBJ Invoicing 7.51, PBJ Events (Dispatch & Appointments) 7.31, PBJ RingCentral 7.37, PBJ Omada 7.23, PBJ Orders 1.1.5, PBJ Templates 1.13.11 and PBJ Vault 7.12. Updates arrive through the usual plugin update screen and nothing needs reconfiguring. PBJ Helpdesk and PBJ Invoicing add to their databases on their own when they update.

A faster portal

  • The portal starts sooner: styles load in the page head, the first data request starts at once, module scripts load side by side, and the phone screens load only when they are needed.
  • Pages do far less database work: the suite no longer re-checks its tables on every page load, staff and group lookups are done once per page, the Deals board loads every stage in one query, and Calendar Manage and Agenda read only the work the view needs.
  • Browsers keep each module’s scripts and styles cached for a year, and every update still loads the new copy straight away.
  • RingCentral’s background check no longer writes to the database when nothing is waiting, and the shop, stock list and site search in PBJ Orders read all their products in one go.

One mailer for every module

  • Helpdesk, Invoicing, Events, Omada and Orders now send their emails through PBJ CRM’s own mailer, which can carry Reply-To, Cc, Bcc, plain-text messages and named attachments. The emails your customers receive are unchanged.

Sending invoices, estimates and reminders

  • A draft invoice or estimate that cannot be sent because something is missing opens in the editor with a “Not sent” note right above the field to fix.
  • When a customer has no email address or mobile number, the send and reminder dialogs link straight to adding one on the customer’s record.

Notes, tickets and settings

  • Ticket notes show in Work › Notes, open on their own page, can be edited, and can be deleted to the recycle bin and put back. Every change shows on the ticket’s timeline.
  • Settings › Checklist has a Database status line for each installed module, so managers can see at a glance that everything is up to date.
  • The CRM behaves correctly when a module is not installed — links and buttons for a missing module are simply not shown.
  • Adding a person or business from a conversation fills in its phone number or email.

Full details are in each plugin’s changelog: PBJ CRM, PBJ Helpdesk, PBJ Invoicing, PBJ Events, PBJ RingCentral, PBJ Omada, PBJ Orders, PBJ Templates and PBJ Vault.
