Four updates went out together today: PBJ CRM 1.22.0, PBJ Helpdesk 2.14.0, PBJ Dispatch 1.3.0 and PBJ Invoicing 1.15.0. They are one release wearing four version numbers, and the thread running through them is simple: wherever you are in the suite, the customer you need should be one box away — even when they are not in your list yet.
Add a brand-new customer without leaving the screen you are on
Every “who is this for?” box across the suite now works the same way. Click into it and your most recent records appear; type a few letters and matching people and businesses...
PBJ Helpdesk 2.13.0 — spam housekeeping, an all-mailboxes view, and shared email addresses
Empty the spam pile — and find out what was kept
The Bin has had an “empty it now” button for a while. The spam pile now has one too, in the same place, appearing only while you are actually looking at that pile.
The more useful half of this change is what both buttons now tell you. Email that belongs to a ticket is never deleted — that protection has always been there, and it means an “empty” can legitimately leave messages behind. Until now all you got back was a number, which could not tell you whether nothing was protected or whether four things were and nobody...
PBJ Dispatch 1.1.0 — reminders, confirmations and calendar invitations
PBJ Dispatch & Appointments 1.1.0 is out, together with PBJ Help Desk 2.10.0. The two are released as a pair because one of the new features needs both.
1.0.0 could book a job and tell everybody when it was. 1.1.0 is about everything that happens after the booking — telling people, reminding them, and putting the job in their diary.
Everybody gets told, and then reminded
Booking a job, moving it, or cancelling it now emails both the customer and whoever is going. You choose how far ahead the reminders go out — 24 hours and 2 hours to begin with, and the list is yours to...
PBJ Studio Sync 3.7.0 — the content-axis gate
A sync tool has one job it must never get wrong: it must not destroy the thing it is copying to. PBJ Studio Sync 3.7.0 closes the one way it could.
The problem, honestly
A push sends content from your local Studio site up to your live site, matching posts by their slug. If your Studio copy of a page is older than the live one, the push quietly replaces the newer live version with the stale local one. Every stage reports success. Nothing warns you.
The pre-push safety check only ever compared plugin files. It had no idea what your content looked like. So a Studio site could drift...
PBJ CRM 1.19.0 and the New PBJ Dispatch — Files on Every Record, and Visits You Can Book
Two things went out today. PBJ CRM 1.19.0 gives every record a place to keep files and photos. PBJ Dispatch 1.0.0 is a brand new module for booking visits and appointments. The CRM update is free to anyone on the current major version. Dispatch is a separate $25 one-time purchase and needs PBJ CRM to run.
Files and photos on any record
You can now attach files to a contact, a business, a job or a deal. Drag them onto the record, paste them straight out of the clipboard, or press the camera button on a phone and take the picture there and then — the phone shrinks the photo...
PBJ Dispatch & Appointments 1.0.0 — who is going where, and when
PBJ Dispatch & Appointments 1.0.0 is out. It is the fourth module for PBJ CRM, alongside Helpdesk, Invoicing and Archive, and it answers the one question the CRM could not: who is going where, and when. $25 one time, per major version, three sites per key.
One record, with a switch
A visit is when you go to the customer. An appointment is when they come to you. Everything else about the two is identical, so there is one form, one list, one detail screen and one number to quote down the phone — and one run of numbers across both kinds: V-1, V-2, V-3. Nobody has to know which...
PBJ Suite Update: Late-Fee Fix, an Idle-Logout Fix, and Businesses Back in the List
Five PBJ plugins updated today: PBJ CRM 1.18.0, PBJ Helpdesk 2.9.0, PBJ Invoicing 1.14.0, PBJ Archive 1.3.0 and PBJ SEO & Security 4.4.0. No database changes anywhere in this release. Two of them are worth reading properly rather than just clicking update.
If you charge percentage late fees, check your invoices
PBJ Invoicing could apply the same late fee more than once, and once it started it repeated every night. It happened when the record of a charge failed to save while the charge itself went through, leaving the next run unable to tell the fee had already been applied. That...
PBJ CRM 1.16.0 and Helpdesk 2.8.0 — Today, a calendar you can act on, and the CRM on your phone
PBJ CRM 1.16.0 and PBJ Helpdesk 2.8.0 are out. This release is about the two questions you actually open the CRM to answer — what is on me today? and what is coming? — and about being able to ask them from your phone.
Today: one list, tasks and tickets together
There is a new Today screen, first under Tasks & Tickets. It shows everything with your name on it — your CRM tasks and your help desk tickets — in one list, sorted by when they are due, with anything late in red at the top. A task can now say which ticket it is the follow-up for, and when both...
PBJ CRM 1.11.0, Helpdesk 2.6.0, Invoicing 1.13.0, Archive 1.2.0
PBJ CRM 1.11.0 is out, together with PBJ Helpdesk 2.6.0, PBJ Invoicing 1.13.0 and PBJ Archive 1.2.0. This is one coordinated release across the whole suite: a lot of it is plumbing you will never see, and the parts you will see are all about the CRM feeling like a place of work rather than a page on your website.
The CRM is its own screen now
Open the CRM and your site’s logo, menu, header and footer are gone. What is left is the CRM, using the full width of your display instead of sitting in a fixed column, so wide tables finally get the room they need. Dark mode is properly dark —...
PBJ Helpdesk 2.4.0 — follow-up emails, caught
PBJ Helpdesk 2.4.0 is out. It catches the replies that do not look like replies, and it gives every ticket a timeline you can actually read. The follow-up that arrives as a brand-new emailHalf your customers will not press reply. They open a fresh email, type the same subject, and send it. Nothing in that message says which job it is about, so every helpdesk on earth files it as new work — while the ticket it belongs to sits open in the next column.2.4.0 notices. When an email comes from the same address, about the same thing, as mail already on a ticket, it gets a caution mark in the...
